Foundations & Endowments

Our Foundations & Endowments practice is dedicated to helping not-for-profit and charitable organizations achieve their financial goals. We have many years of experience advising as well as being members ourselves of boards and investment committees. To meet the varied needs of your organization's mission Charter Advisory offers two service models:

INVESTMENT OVERSIGHT & CONSULTING

With this service model we work with the investment/finance committee as an "outsourced Chief Investment Officer" interfacing with the external investment advisors and managers. We assist in developing the Investment Policy Statement (IPS) and Asset Allocation that best suits the needs of the organization. We sit at the table with the committee and board as an objective third party to ensure the investment strategy and process stays on track. We manage the risk/return profile to make sure the minimum return target is attained at the most appropriate risk level. We charge a flat annual fee for this service model. This service can include:

  • Investment advisor and manager selection/interviews
  • Custodian selection
  • Investment Policy formulation and Asset Allocation guidance
  • Alternative Asset investment advisory and review
  • Board communications
  • Attendance at board/committee meetings quarterly on an as needed basis
  • Quarterly Asset Allocation updates and performance reporting

COMPREHENSIVE INVESTMENT MANAGEMENT

This service model includes all of the services in our Oversight & Consulting model above and provides full portfolio management using our Approved List of Funds and Managers, and our Asset Allocation Models customized for the needs of your organization. We charge a percentage of assets being managed for the comprehensive model. It includes:
